From Silver Thorne, its about a half hour to get to Cataract Lake, but it's worth the trip. I got there at about 8 a.m. and started the hike to find my first painting spot. It was quiet and beautiful everywhere I looked. I startled a beaver as I walked and a little later I saw the results of his night's work. Several good sized aspen trees were cut down and dragged down a steep incline to the lake. This was my first painting.
